About Us

An increasing number of homeowners want to create an edible landscape. Edible landscapes are becoming more popular as food prices and safety concerns are both on the increase. Growing your own fruits and vegetables ensures you will be eating the freshest, most nutritious food possible.

We are a group of men and women devoted to gardening. The Suncoast Tropical Fruit and Vegetable Club is a focal point for local experts, professional and hobbyists to exchange information about the art of gardening.

We come from many different walks of life and different states and countries. We are bound together by one common bond: our love of tropical gardening. We are a wonderful mix of amateur backyard gardeners and professional horticulturists, who love to learn and share our findings and expertise with everyone that will listen. Among our members are many specialists who are available for consultation on a variety subjects regarding tropical fruits and vegetables. The sharing of personal experiences over time is what provides the basis for success in growing anything, and that is particularly important when dealing with tropical fruit trees and vegetables.

The growing of plants and trees in the tropics is still very much an art despite all the science. The rules of growing plants in Southwest Florida are different from just about everywhere else.
